A modification I was determined to do as soon as I decided to get the T7, was the Quick Flip Mirror Mount Kit (Arrow Kit) from Rottweiler Performance. This kit totally changes the look of the bike to a more aggressive appearance, but more importantly, it potentially saves you a lot of money. Read on to understand what I mean.
Rottweiler Performance
Rottweiler Performance is a Southern California based design and manufacturing facility with the primary goal of creating useful products for consumers looking to customize their motorcycles beyond what the factory engineers have set for their target audience. Quite often what manufacturers create for the consumer can be very limited in scope and vision because of this. This includes the adventure market as well as dual sport, street and road racing. Their rich history in highly competitive motorsports uniquely positions them to draw from varying disciplines of engineering experience in order to reach their creative goals. Rally Motor
I ordered my kit from Rally Motor in the Netherlands. I found the shop-by-bike feature on the https://rally-motor.nl/collections/shop-by-bike website extremely helpful. Product descriptions and prices seem good, and delivery time was OK.
Please note that the mirror kit offered by Rally Motor is not the same as the one you get when ordering directly from Rottweiler Performance. The mounting kit is the same, the mirror housing is slightly different, and the mirror glass is of a less expensive type, thus making the kit a fair bit cheaper. It comes with replacement glass though, and to me, this glass seems perfect.
The original mirrors of the T7 do work perfectly fine. However, if you plan on riding off road and perhaps even dropping the bike (God forbid), these mirrors could cause costly repairs. It almost seems like a design flaw when the mirrors are mounted to the very same piece of metal that holds your switches, brake and clutch. Needless to say, if you fall over and the original mirrors take the beating, you are at risk of damaging a very costly item on your bike.
I go offroad. I don’t plan on dropping the bike. But if I do, the arrow mirrors should cause no expensive repair. Better safe than sorry, I guess.
I placed the order at Rally Motor on Friday September 20th and picked them up on Wednesday October 2nd. That is 12 days including two weekends, international shipping and Norwegian customs clearance. Not too bad I guess (although it felt like ages).
I was surprised, happy and slightly overwhelmed by the package from Rally Motor. The items I ordered were in perfect shape, as expected, however, included in the package was a couple of caramel waffles and RM stubby holders, and a thank you letter for doing business with them. You scored some well earned points there, Rally Motor!
Right back at you, Rally Motor!
The staff at Rally Motor pre-mounts the mirrors to the Rottweiler mounts, so you only need to drill the holes in the handguards and mount it!
A small Rottweiler Performance sticker is included.
These mirrors, as opposed to the original Rottweiler ones, require a set of allen-keys to adjust them. On my previous bike I had the original ones, and initially I did like the idea of being able to easily change between inward- or outward pointing mirrors, however, I never used it. Let’s see if I will miss it and get annoyed with the allen-keys.
The size is not much different between the original Yamaha mirrors and this kit from Rottweiler Performance.
The first mirror has come off. It does magic to the look of the bike, I think.
No mirrors. And we are ready to install some new ones.
My bike came with the Barkbusters pre-installed, and they do make a perfect mounting point for the Rottweiler Performance mirrors. I started off measuring where I wanted to mount them so that they did not interfere with .e.g. the clutch, brake and the Barkbusters VPS handguards, and then marking where to drill the holes. The kit comes with pre-measured templates to simplify this task.
The first mirror is in place, and it looks awesome! You may want to install the Rottweiler mount on the outside of the Barkbusters handguard if you need more room, however, this exposes it quite a bit more to damage and scratching. I prefer the inner position.
Here is a picture from another angle. This is a neat install that really appears quite anonymous while still making a massive and slightly mysterious change to the bike. “Wait, no mirrors on that bike, or what?”
I totally dig this new look. What do you think? Don’t be shy, use the comments below.
You may want to read my previous install and review of the Rottweiler Performance Quick Flip Arrow Mirrors fitted on my GSA. I am a big fan of these mirrors – or more correctly – these types of mirrors as I am aware of several brands that offer similar products.
I am on an endeavor to make my bike fit me and my riding style. I like it when things look good and work great. These mirrors is such a noticeable modification and I love them for what they do to the bike, and they give me great comfort when thinking that one day, even I will drop this bike.
Be smart. Get a pair!
