I am on an endeavor to make sure this bike fits me and my riding style. As such, one of my very first bike fitting modification was the NiceCNC Lengthened Enlarged Footpegs and Lowering Kit. This second modification is swapping the original seat for the higher Yamaha Rally Seat. I am definitely on a roll to make this bike perfect for me. Read on to learn from my experience.

Starting off with the why. Why upgrade to the Rally Seat. Well, for once, it is a fair bit higher. Measured from the foot pegs I was able to gain 30 mm additional seat height. With the lowered foot pegs (2o mm) I have gained a total of 50 mm through these two modifications.

50 mm or 5 cm might not sound that much. Considering the bend of the knees and the actual seating position it does make a huge difference.

In case you wondered, the length of the original seat and the Rally Seat are equal, around 80 cm.

The height difference is probably the main reason why people swap for the Rally Seat. Some people also prefer this seat due to its one-piece design, making it easier to change seating positions when riding more aggressive or technical.

Otherwise, the overall layout and design is very similar.

I decided to remove this trap going across the seat. I am not entirely sure why I did it, and I might put it back on again.

Removing it is a simple operation. I loosened these two nuts holding the locking pins for the saddle, removed the strap and tightened down the nuts again.

Remember to put the washer back on as it might stay with the strap if you don’t pay attention.

The strap removed, and the Rally Seat looks even neater.

I am really happy with how this came out. It looks good, but far more importantly, it feels so right for me with the combined height change through changing to a higher seat and lowered foot pegs.

I’ve seen a lot of comments about the comfort of the Rally Seat compared with the original one. I find this to be about the same. Neither are super comfy for really long rides, but I can’t say I notice any difference straight away.

I like the way it looks.

With the lowered and new foot pegs, rubber pads and new Rally Seat, what’s next?

I have a few more upgrades lined up. Make sure you follow me on Instagram @MyGSAdventure and revisit my website for any future updates on modifications and my Gelände/Straße Adventures.
