Completed Modifications for 2017 BMW R 1200 GS Adventure Triple Black

Here is an overview of modifications done to my current bike.

19th March 2021: Puig Sport Screen

I fitted a Puig Sport Screen, “enduro” type, switching from Puig Touring Screen. Why? Well, it looks fabulous, and it is a better match for my riding style. I would argue that smaller is better, especially of you tend to stand up on your pegs and pursuing those gravel roads as frequently as you possibly can. To me, this felt like an entirely new bike. Read my review here.

11th May 2020: TwinPegs

The TwinPegs idea is quite simply to add an additional footpeg behind the original footpeg, placed so close to the original footpeg that the riders boot will cover both. It does not affect the operation of the gear/rear brake levers, and the additional footpeg will have the same fold-away safety functionality as the original one. I installed it, and I really like it!

24th April 2020: Nippy Normans Dual USB Socket

Needing more power – i.e. 12V power – I decided to swap the original DIN socket for a Dual USB plug from Nippy Normans. It is an easy install and I highly recommend installing the DIN replacement kit in order to have more options. Check it out on this blog post.

9th April 2020: Evotech Machined Aluminium Hand Guard Protectors

These hand guards protect the hand guards and reduce handlebar vibration. An innovative design that fits beautifully with the original BMW handguards. Check out my blog post to learn more about the fitting process and the end result.

9th April 2011: Touratech RAM Mount Camera Adapter

Not really a motorcycle modification as such, but the camera mount is still an important part of what I intend my bike for… The RAM Camera Mount Adapter is a standard adapter with a 1/4-20 thread extending from a flat round base. The camera mount adapter is easily attached by using the tripod thread placed at the base of the camera. Product no. 01-068-0006-0

9th April 2011: Wunderlich Instrument Surround

Here’s a sharp upgrade in an area that’s in constant view while riding. The instruments can be hard to read on occasion because of glare and these instrument visors can help plus they add a strikingly good look. Machined of billet aluminum and then bead blasted and finally anodized, these visors have a beautiful finish. They simply attach to the instrument panel with a bit of commonly available, clear silicone. Everything needed is furnished, including easy to follow instructions.

  1. Hey,

I was looking through your website and it looks great!
Thank you for sharing this with us.
Since last month I own a new GS Adventure.

I was wondering where I could buy the Bagster Tank cover.

Could you help me out on this?

    Thanks !

    Peter

  2. Hi Peter!

Thank you for your kind words. My bike was actually equipped with the Bagster Tank Cover when I bought it. I know a lot of local motorbike dealers are also Bagster resellers, you should check the Bagster website for more information.

    Regards,

  3. Hey Edgar,

I’m writing from The Netherlands. Like your site a lot. I’m the proud owner of a GS Adventure since 2010. I owned a Honda Varadero before wich was also a good bike but not as good as the GS.
I want to buy the windscreen spoiler but at the touratech site is said that it should only be used in combination with the Windscreen Hard Part (productnumber 01-044-0380-0). Did you also use that?

    Thanx!

  4. Thank you for your kind words, Hans! 🙂

I bought the Touratech Windscreen Spoiler (Part no. 01-044-0750-0) and I am using it on the original BMW R 1200 GS Adventure windscreen that came with the 2010 model. It fits perfectly and both works and looks great! 🙂

  5. Hi Edgar, first of all thank you for all the information that you explain in this web site. I’m a happy owner of a 1200 GSA from 2011 and I’m glad.
I’m from Spain, and I would like to buy “Wunderlich Instrument Surround” in the same color of yours…Black there is no problem, but I can not find it in silver…
Could you please send me a link to buy it?

    Thanks!
