I’m sure I read somewhere that helmets should be replaced every so often – for “safety reasons”. However, the main reason for getting this one was I bloody well wanted it!
I’ve had quite a few helmets, and only 18 months ago I purchased what I thought would be the holy grail of motorcycle helmets – the Schuberth E1. However, it never felt comfortable on my head, and ultimately I sold it. I resolved back to a well used – well I would say “unsafe” helmet – a Caberg Tourmax that I’ve had for several years. But now, there’s a new helmet in town!
There’s been quite a bit of fuzz around the NEXX X.WED adventure helmet and it has been rewarded with with ratings such as SBS Crew Review in Gold by the SportsBikeShop in the UK (see https://mag.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/reviews/nexx-x-wed-2-helmet-review/). I first became aware of this helmet via Nomad Sweden on YouTube and his VLOG helmet review video (see below).
In addition to the NEXX X.WED2 Plain Titanium Matt helmet, I also bought a 60% tinted visor. To fit my need further I’ve spent some time building a GoPro fastening rig to position the camera in front of the helmet (again, inspired by Nomad Sweden). I’m quite happy with this setup and I look forward to testing it during my TET Norway trip this summer.
Since this is a permanent setup, I exchanged the GoPro “screws” with some ordinary screws as shown above. It makes the entire installation less intrusive.
I am really happy so far, and I should be able to provide a more thorough review after this year’s TET Norway summer adventure. Stay tuned – and ride safe!
