While all of us seem to be more than happy with BMW when it comes to the bike itself, equally many seem to be annoyed by the limited set of tools that come with the bike. In his great GlobeRiders DVD, BMW R1200GS Adventure Touring Instructional DVD, legendary Helge Pedersen shares his experiences and quite a few tips when it comes to upgrading your tool set. Sometimes I come across some brilliant tools myself, and I cannot help wanting to share it with you.
8pc. Torx Kit w/ Multi Handle-Case
This 8pc. kit provides you with all the torx key needed for the GS Adventure bike as far as I have found. The great thing about this kit is the brilliant way all of the pieces is put together in the small plastic unit with also functions as a very handy tool-extention and handle to provide more torque. Simply brilliant, and it works! It even seems to be made of a type of plastic that would not break too easily; i.e. it should work as an “adventure tool kit”.
This kit is a bargain at only NOK 79,90,-

Extension for the front wheel spoke
While removing the front wheel of my bike, I was shocked to find that no tool was provided for the front wheel spoke. I immediately rushed off to Biltema hoping to find a suiting tool – and I did! This 125 mm extension fit like a glove and will surely be included in my bike tool set from now on.
The image below shows the extension in use.

Biltema straps
While at Biltema I just happened to pick up a few of these straps. One thing is for sure – you can never get too many straps!
